Open Mic Night (part two)

Last Wednesday I announced my involvement in this months open mic night, and because of new events and helpful comments I have decided to write a sequel to my first post. The guitarist Will Soja is in fact not going to make it to the open mic night for reasons unknown to me. At first I was a bit worried about it because I had signed 'Crown Deville' up to play not 'Tyler Campbell.' I was able to find a replacement however, a guitarist by the name of Nick, and perhaps a bassist and/or another guitarist. Now I am more confident than ever, we have decided to cover songs wrather than teaching them the songs we created and adding additional parts for the addition of two other instrumentalists. So we have decided to cover 'Seven Nation Army' by 'The White Stripes,' and 'Blitzkreig Bop' by the Ramones. Also a comment asked me the specific addresses for the band websites, they are www.myspace.com/crowndeville, and www.reverbnation.com/crown_deville. Also you can check out our profile and page on facebook, just search crown deville in the search bar, one will have a picture of me and Will, thats our profile, the other, a picture of my history notes, thats the band page. Hope to see you on open mic night!

Open Mic Night

I have written several posts about my band Crown Deville, and now I finally get to break the news that we are going to play for the first time live at the open mic night next tuesday. I have been waiting a long time to play live with a band, and now I actually get to do it, and I can not be happier. My guitarist Will is not sure if he can make it or not, so there may be either a fill in guitarist, or I will be playing solo. Luckilly the show we are playing is only enough time for two short songs, so all we really need to do is make sure we're good and ready to go out there and rock the house! This show may seem too small to get excited about, but to me, this is Crown Devilles first time revealing itself beyond the realm of the internet, its as if that is our corrination, when we actually become a band. I will do a post every time we announce a show date, so stay tuned. If you are interested, the show is in the band room at the high school at 7:00 PM on Tuesday November 23, I hope to see some of you there. If you are interested in hearing our songs before you go, we can be found on Face book and Myspace. Sorry I hate to sound like an advertisement, I'm just very excited.

Drugs and Music Shouldnt Mix

A bold statement, I realize this allready, but I will die with this oppinion. Many people say that drugs help write a more creative song. To me, this is wrong, someone may write a good song while under the influence, but it was not the drugs that influenced it. In some cases a song may sound amazing while under the influence, and it could sound like complete garbage later when the listener is not on drugs. This is not the only reason that I believe this, it is also a matter of practice, if you have a drug or an addiction influencing your time then you have less time for practice. Even if you are practicing, you may not maintain the things you learned while doing so because of the drugs effect on you. I realize this is a very strongly worded article, but this is something that I feel very strongly about, and I want to share my opinion about it.

Post about the video

That was the third time Will and I had gotten together, these are not the full songs, and I may not post the full versions on here, if you do want to see them you can either check out Crown Devilles Facebook page (no im not on facebook just the band) and that will allow you to hear our songs, or you can go to www.reverbnation.com/crown_deville. Lastly you can go to our myspace page at www.myspace.com/crowndeville. We will also post show schedules, release dates, and other important informaion. That video was just the beginning! First Boston! Then... um, Charlestown!

Brookline Teen Center Grand Opening

This article is less about the actual opening scheduled for winter 2011, but more about the fact that Will and I are scheduled to play there. Last year I came in contact with Paul Epstien (brother of Theo Epstein, owner of the Red Socks) and found out that he was planning on building a teen center. I asked him if I could get involved in helping him as an intern over the summer. So me, Will, and many other teens from the high school got together with designers and advertising agents and finished the four year project of designing the teen center. Once it was finished being designed we all went our separate ways for the most part, but Will and I remained in contact with Paul, and we decided that Crown Deville is playing at the opening. Make sure to watch for an article containing the date of this event, and definatly check out the teen center, it rocks trust me.
